The short answer to the question “is UbiQGel (Ubi-Q-Gel®) the same Coenzyme Q10 as Q-Gel® CoQ10?” is a qualified YES and an explanation is in order:
UbiQGel®, made by Tishcon Corp, has been designated an orphan drug for the treatment of Mitochondrial Cytopathies. It is not available as a prescription drug till all the required clinical studies have been conducted to the satisfaction of the FDA. While these studies are going on, there is no product bearing the name UbiQGel® or Ubi-Q-Gel available for sale – UbiQGel® is only being used in the clinical studies. However, the exact same bioavailable form of Coenzyme Q10 is available as a dietary supplement, (no prescription required), called Q-Gel® CoQ10, which is also made by Tishcon Corp.
Q-Gel® CoQ10 is available in 100mg per softgel potency as well as 15mg, 30mg and 60mg softgels. Tishcon Corp also makes enhanced bioavailability Coenzyme Q10 formulations in chewable form called ChewQ® with up to 600mg potency per chewtab and various Liposomal liquid CoQ10 formulations.
All these formulations, except UbiQGel®, are available for sale from EPIC and epic4health.com.
