| | Can ResVida Resveratrol Help You Lose Weight? As already known and demonstrated, Resveratrol is a natural compound that affects energy metabolism and mitochondrial function and serves as a calorie restriction mimetic, at least in animal models of obesity. This new 2011 study from the Netherlands was a randomized double-blind crossover study that treated 11 healthy, obese men with placebo for 30 days and 150mg/day resveratrol (resVida) for 30 days with a 4-week washout period between the 30-day study periods. The authors of the study came to the following conclusions: Conclusion 1: The study demonstrated that 30 days of resveratrol supplementation induces metabolic changes in obese humans, mimicking the effects of calorie restriction. Conclusion 2: The study demonstrated that 30 days of resveratrol supplementation reduced sleeping metabolic rate in human, mimicking calorie restriction Conclusion 3: The study demonstrated that 30 days of resveratrol supplementation improved mitochondrial metabolism through the AMPK-SIRT1-PGC-1 axis. Conclusion 4: The study demonstrated that 30 days of resveratrol supplementation decreased hepatic and increased muscle lipid content Conclusion 5: The study demonstrated that 30 days of resveratrol supplementation reduced inflammation markers in plasma and muscle Publication: Cell Metabolism doi:10.1016/j.cmet.2011.10.002 (volume 14 issue 5 pp.612 - 622) Authors: Timmers, Silvie; Konings, Ellen; Bilet, Lena; Houtkooper, Riekelt H.; van de;Weijer, Tineke; Goossens, Gijs;H.; Hoeks, Joris; van der;Krieken, Sophie; Ryu, Dongryeol; Kersten, Sander; Moonen-Kornips, Esther; Hesselink, Matthijs;K.C.; Kunz, Iris; Schrauwen-Hinderling, Vera;B.; Blaak, Ellen E.; Auwerx, Johan; Schrauwen, Patrick
